Your bank balance is coming to your CAS
On 7 October the RBI said depositories will be able to show your bank deposits in the consolidated account statement, through account aggregators, by 31 December 2026. The details of how it will work have not been issued.

The RBI's Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies, released with the monetary policy on 7 October 2026, opens with two changes to the account aggregator framework. Both are "expected to be implemented by December 31, 2026."
What changes
Bank deposits in the CAS. The depositories, NSDL and CDSL, send a consolidated account statement to people with a demat account, for each month with a transaction and otherwise every six months. It shows shares, bonds and mutual fund units under your PAN. Under the change, depositories can include information on your bank deposit accounts in that statement, fetched through account aggregators. You would see holdings and bank balances in one document.
People without a demat account will also be able to get a consolidated view of their financial information through an account aggregator, according to the statement.
Account aggregators will work with each other. The RBI will require them to be interoperable, so you can fetch information from any bank or other provider through the account aggregator you choose.
How an account aggregator handles your data
An account aggregator is an NBFC licensed by the RBI to move financial information between institutions at your request. Under the RBI's account aggregator directions of November 2025:
- nothing can be fetched or shared without your explicit consent (paragraph 15)
- the information it fetches cannot stay with the account aggregator (paragraph 14(7))
- you can revoke consent, fully or in part (paragraph 20)
What is not known yet
The announcement is a few paragraphs long. It does not say whether bank balances will appear in the CAS by default or only after you consent, which banks will take part first, whether the statement will show balances only or transactions too, or how often the bank information will refresh. Those details should come in a circular from the RBI, from SEBI, or from both. We will update this piece when they do.
Where Reva stands
Reva reads the CAMS and KFintech mutual fund CAS and bank statements you upload, in your browser. It does not use account aggregators yet. A depository CAS that carries bank balances would put more of the same picture into one file. We will look at reading it once the format is published.
Questions
- Will my CAS show my bank balance?
- The RBI said on 7 October 2026 that depositories will be able to include bank deposit account information in the CAS through account aggregators, expected by 31 December 2026. The detailed rules have not been issued.
- Which CAS does this apply to?
- The consolidated account statement from the depositories, NSDL and CDSL, which covers demat holdings and mutual fund units under your PAN.
- Do I need a demat account?
- No. The RBI said customers without a demat account will also be able to get a consolidated view through an account aggregator.
- Can an account aggregator keep my data?
- No. The RBI's 2025 directions say financial information it fetches shall not reside with it, and it needs your explicit consent to fetch anything.
- What does interoperable mean here?
- Any account aggregator will be able to fetch information from any participating bank or provider, so you are not limited by which aggregator your bank works with.
